Senior Cheerleader Jentri Price on Life as a Tiger – Presented by RibCrib

VYPE: What competitions does your team prepare for beyond cheering at games?

Jentri: We compete at regionals, state, and Game Day regionals and state. We prepare for UCA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. Then we go straight into STUNT season.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about cheerleading?

Jentri: The relationship with me and my teammates. I honestly see them more than I see my own family. My teammates are my second family.

VYPE: What makes you passionate about cheer?

Jentri: Cheer is my escape. Whenever I’m cheering, I feel a sense of freedom and pride. I’m excited to see the possibilities of what my body can do and it’s cool to think that I get to throw people in the air and flip my body around. I can’t imagine my life without it.

VYPE: What is the biggest challenge of cheerleading?

Jentri: Tumbling and stunting is very mental. Towards the end of the routine, your brain is telling you that you’re tired and can’t physically do more. But if you push through the tiredness, you realize you can do more.

VYPE: Who inspires you?

Jentri: My teammates are the reason I keep showing up. Seeing the drive and love everyone has for this sport inspires me to keep going, especially when it gets hard.

VYPE: What teammate leaves a big impression?

Jentri: Jaxon Roop. His work ethic is like no other. He is constantly striving to get better, and he goes the extra step to make sure he is ready when he steps out on the competition floor.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing Broken Arrow?

Jentri: I come from the biggest high school in Oklahoma. Representing BA is awesome because it holds a legacy behind it that I get to be part of.

VYPE: What is your favorite cheer memory?

Jentri: Our winning performance at state. The practices leading up to state were hard, but in the end worth it. Winning my first state title is something I don’t think I’ll ever forget.

VYPE: Here is your chance to thank anyone you wish.

Jentri: I want to thank my team for being my second family and being people I can talk to whenever.
