Broken Arrow Tigers Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by Tulsa Bone and Joint

As they enter a new season, the Lady Tigers of Broken Arrow are excited and ready to get things going with second year head coach Shane Coffey. Between returning starters and new faces, the Lady Tigers feel poised to have a big season. “We have a strong nucleus back from a year ago, including three starters,” Coffey said. “Of our ten losses last season, nine of them came to state semifinal teams from Classes 6A and 5A. We will continue to showcase a tenacious attitude on both ends of the floor. With a group of talented underclassmen to fill roles with players with experience, expect Broken Arrow is to be a State Tournament contender.”

McKenzie Mathurin (5-10, So.) averaged 11.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists last season and looks to have another big season. She has received multiple DI offers, including four from power five schools. She is a fierce competitor that has a ‘refuse to lose’ mentality. Taneya Howard (5-10, Sr.) is back after contributing 6.3 points per game last year and she will work in increase those numbers and make a bigger impact on the court. Grace Pippett (5-11, Sr.) and Taryn Jacobs (6-0, So.) combined for 5.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game last season. They have worked hard and are ready to increase their production.

Macy Marraccini (5-5, So.), Brooklyn Smitherman (5-11, Fr.), Jaya Tarver (5-11, So.), Maysie Childers (5-11, Jr.), Lydia Pince (6-1, Jr.), and Jacie Adson (5-8, Jr.) will all look to make contributions this season. Other Lady Tigers to keep an eye out for are Brylee Chatman (5-5, Sr.), Ja’Nisha Caldwell (5-9, Sr.), Addison Price (5-5, So.), Peyton Dolan (5-7, So.), and KK Wales (5-5, So.). Assisting Coffey this season are Michelle Hazelip, Alexis Gaulden, Courtney Caughman, and Jimmy Walker.
