Broken Arrow’s Nathan Martin – Football Spotlight – Presented by Josh Moore – Shelter Insurance

Nathan Martin

Broken Arrow High School

Nathan Martin’s dad told him if a person is honest, selfless, and hard-working they will succeed in life. These skills have helped Matin become a better athlete on the football field.

Martin is a senior at Broken Arrow High School, where he is a linebacker and tight end on his football team.

“I am passionate about my sport because I’ve had so many people encourage me and I’ve worked hard to get where I am. Football has taught me how to fight through adversity in life,” said Martin.

The friendships and family bonds of a team are Martin’s favorite part of playing team sports. Teammates like Ben Neal have made an impression on Martin.

“We have pushed each other to be the best versions of ourselves and to always work harder,” said Martin.

He admires two former University of Oklahoma and current NFL players, Kenneth Murray, and Mark Andrews. They get Nathan’s support both as an OU fan and for playing the same positions as he does. Martin wants to recognize coach Gorman for being a great coach and his 10th grade history teacher, Mrs. Christensen.

“She engaged with the class when teaching. As a class we developed a real connection closer than just teaching,” said Martin.

Martin was introduced to football by his dad and older brother. They both played and he grew up watching it with them. The person who inspires him the most is his father.

“He inspires me the most because he never wavers when dealing with difficulty or adversity. He just always does what needs to be done,” said Martin.

His favorite part of representing Broken Arrow as an athlete is celebrating his sport, along with celebrating the victories of all the other sports at the school. He has many great memories of football victories but defeating Owasso in the playoffs is the best.

Interests he has away from football include going out to eat his favorite meal of steak and eggs. Martin also says he would like to take a trip to go mountain hiking with his girlfriend someday.
