9 Questions with Grace Marshall – Presented by Tulsa Bone & Joint

VYPE: Grace, how has your senior season gone so far?

Grace Marshall: My senior season is going great so far. My teammates are amazing, and I’m really excited to see what’s in store for us as the season goes on.

VYPE: What position are you playing and how do you prepare yourself for competition?
GM: I play outside hitter, and I mentally prepare for a match by setting some time to go sit, take a couple deep breaths, and really think about how I am going to make a difference during this game and how I can encourage my teammates.

VYPE: Tell me some of your best memories as a BA Tiger.
GM: There’s so many, but I would have to say my favorite is when we won our home tournament 2 years ago. Everyone had so much energy, and we were cheering so loud I bet you could hear it from the classrooms in Gradel Hall.

VYPE: What’s your favorite subject in school and who is your favorite teacher?
GM: My favorite subject in school, specifically this year, is AP Government, which is taught by my favorite teacher, Ms. McKinley.

VYPE: What makes being a student-athlete at BAHS special?
GM: There’s such a strong community that wants to see everyone succeed, and I have built some of the most genuine relationships with my peers through the welcoming environment.

VYPE: Where is your favorite place to play?
GM: I have a very predictable answer, but my favorite place to play is in the event center. There’s nothing like playing in your home gym and feeling the energy that everyone has in it.

VYPE: Which teammate keeps everyone laughing and who is the most serious?
GM: The teammates that have everyone laughing are definitely Devine and Aliyah, and I wouldn’t say that we have a super serious player off the court, but when we are on the court and about to play Candice and I are definitely more serious because we are ready to go out and play hard.

VYPE: What’s the best advice you’ve been given as a student-athlete?
GM: The best advice I’ve ever received came from my mom. She said that no matter what you’re doing or who’s watching, always give 110 precent because someone will notice.

VYPE: What is your goal for life after high school?
GM: My goal for life outside of high school is to go play college volleyball, major in Pre-Law, and eventually have a career in criminal justice.
