The Broken Arrow baseball team is poised for a solid season with players like sophomore Jasper Reid working hard to make this a season to remember. The diamond is his favorite place, from practice to the games, the baseball field is where Reid finds happiness.
“My favorite place to compete is on the baseball field, no matter what just being on the field makes me happy.” Reid said.
Being with his teammates is more like being around family.
“I like how me and teammates all get along in a fun way and we are like a big family,” said Reid. “Jake Lopez is definitely the most vocal, but I would say Riley Rosser is always making people laugh.”
Reid said he finds inspiration in his mother and has learned valuable lessons from her and the game that he will carry with him throughout life.
“My mom inspires me because no matter how hard her life gets, she continues to work as hard as possible,” said Reid. “Athletics has taught me to always live in the moment and never focus on the past or worry about the future.”
Coming into the new season Reid said he has worked on his consistency and doing the little things to help elevate his game to the next level. Finding balance between schoolwork and baseball is the biggest challenge he faces as a student-athlete.
“The most difficult thing about being a student-athlete is staying up on grades while also getting better at my sport,” Reid said.
In the classroom, Reid said his favorite subject has been chemistry.
“My favorite subject is chemistry because of all the cool labs, but my favorite teacher is my 8th grade science teacher Ms. Herring.”
