Broken Arrow’s Landrey Turner – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Security Bank

Broken Arrow junior defender Landrey Turner has built her reputation on grit, composure and a quiet belief that big moments bring out her best. As an outside back for the Tigers, she embraces the challenge of stopping opposing attacks while helping fuel her team’s postseason aspirations.

One of Turner’s favorite memories came in last year’s playoffs, when Broken Arrow outlasted Edmond North in penalty kicks. The tense finish turned into a defining win for the program and a personal highlight for Turner. “Last year in playoffs we beat Edmond North in PKs,” she said. “It was a big game and big win for the team, and I was so proud to be a part of it.”

Soccer has shaped Turner far beyond the field. She credits the sport with teaching her how to stay mentally tough through adversity. “My sport has taught me how to be resilient and never give up,” Turner said. That mindset is reinforced by her favorite saying, “Everything happens for a reason,” a phrase she leans on to keep a positive outlook and trust that “it’s all in God’s hands.”

Turner’s support system stretches from the classroom to her own home. She points to Tommy, her junior-year leadership teacher, as a favorite for his steady encouragement and upbeat personality. “He was a very supportive teacher and always positive and outgoing,” Turner said. Her older sister, who played four years of college soccer, remains a powerful example of where dedication can lead.

On the field, teammate Addison Castelberry has made a lasting impact with her relentless work rate and refusal to quit. Turner also looks up to Kobe Bryant for his mentality and famous commitment to constant improvement. Above all, she is grateful for the chance to wear Broken Arrow’s colors alongside close friends. “I love being able to represent my school with my best friends as my teammates,” she said, adding that none of it would be possible without her parents’ unwavering support and the opportunities they have provided.
