Broken Arrow Tigers – Boys Basketball Team Preview – Presented by Josh Moore, Shelter Insurance

BROKEN ARROW TIGERS

Coach: Beau Wallace

23-24 Record: 21-9

OUTLOOK

Turn up the heat in the gym. The Broken Arrow Tigers are back and head coach Beau Wallace is looking to get this team back in tournament form.

“Broken Arrow is coming off a 21-9 season, in which they made it to the semi-finals of the state tournament. They return seven players that saw a lot of court time, starting with four-year starter David (DJ) Howell. Broken Arrow will get De’Von Wallace back from an injury that kept him out all of the reg season, as well as the addition of two transfers in Gene Mason and Coy Lemons. The Tigers will enter the season as one of the top teams in the state and will rely on their depth as the season continues,” said coach Wallace.

DJ Howell (6-5, Sr.) has the skill set to carry this team into post season play. An elite passer who enjoys getting his teammates involved, Howell can score at will and his game has improved in every category coming into the season. Howell will play at the next level. Jailun Talley (6-5, Sr.) may not say much, but his game speaks for itself. Talley is capable of having a big night every time he steps on the court. A great rebounder and someone who makes good decisions with the ball, Talley is a nice compliment to Howell.

De’Von Wallace (6-2, Sr.) is a guard making his return after suffering an injury last season. Wallace has worked hard to get back into basketball shape and is ready to compete at a high level. Corban Dow (6-7, Jr.) is a combo player who understands the system at BAHS and plays hard on both ends of the court. Look for Dow to continue to improve and make an impact this season.

Other players to watch include Logan Shockley (6-5, Sr.) at forward, Anton Wallace (6-2, Sr.) at guard, and Nyjah Noyes (6-3, Sr.) at guard. All three players will make an impact this season. Also look for Troy Bell (6-5, Jr.), Gene Mason (6-4, So.), Coy Lemons (6-7, Jr.), Israel Wilson (6-1, Sr.), James Jones (6-1, Jr.), and Jacob Gardner (6-0, Sr.).
