Broken Arrow girls advance to Class 6A Basketball State Tournament – Presented by Tulsa Bone & Joint

The Broken Arrow Lady Tigers defeated Booker T. Washington, 49-44, Thursday, March 2 to claim a Class 6A East Area championship and advance to the state tournament.

The Lady Tigers, who improved to 18-8 overall under head coach Shane Coffey, will open state tournament play against Putnam City West (22-4) Thursday, March 9 at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.

Broken Arrow was paced by McKenzie Mathurin’s 14 points. Macy Marraccini was also in double figures with 13 points and added six assists, and Taneya Howard finished with nine points and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.

Members of the Lady Tigers include: McKenzie Mathurin, Taneya Howard, Grace Pippett, Taryn Jacobs, Macy Marraccini, Brooklyn Smitherman, Jaya Tarver, Maysie Childers, Lydia Pince, Jacie Adson, Brylee Chatman, Ja’Nisha Caldwell, Addison Price, Peyton Dolan and KK Wales.

Broken Arrow has three state championships in program history. The Lady Tigers captured back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015, and won the school’s first in 1983.
