Broken Arrow Varsity Swim.
It’s no surprise the Broken Arrow swim team has enjoyed a lot of success under head coach Breonna Davis. Davis, a standout swimmer and Broken Arrow graduate, holds her swimmer to a high standard. From the newest member of the team to the seasoned upperclassmen, Davis’ approach doesn’t change. The push to sit atop Class 6A has given several members of the varsity team the motivation to work hard entering the new season.
One standout is Lilliann Skinner who set two school records while competing at the state meet last year. In the 200IM Skinner posted a 2:09.85 and a 56.01 in the 100 backstroke. Coach Davis said Skinner is a dominant swimmer in competition and gives great effort every time she hits the water.
Another swimmer with an exciting future is Will Langley. Only a freshman, Langley loves to compete and has fun doing it according to coach Davis. Another freshman making a splash is Nissi Brooks. Her positive attitude and being coachable are all qualities that have her teammates taking notice.
Senior Evan Marchewka has been described as the heart and soul of the team. Known as a team player, Marchewka brings a great attitude to the pool and loves to compete. Several seniors are working hard to make their final year of prep swimming their best on record. Hayley Smith, Lily Burks, Jesse Sawyer, Holden Caruth, Max Bello and Ethan Hawksworth are all poised for big years.
Also look for Cael Dours (Jr.), Brooke Kramer (Jr.), Noah Garrison (So.) and Ben Ballard (Fr.) to compete and have success in the water. Overall, this is a solid team from top to bottom. How successful they can be this year depends on them and the work they are putting in before the season begins. With Davis at the helm of the ship, don’t be surprised to find several Tigers on the podium all season long.
