Broken Arrow’s Logan Silva

Lacrosse may not be a sport you think about when you talk Broken Arrow athletics, but schools like BAHS, Jenks and others have embraced the sport and the numbers are growing. Broken Arrow senior Logan Silva has played lacrosse for a decade.

“I play mid-field and take the face offs,” Silva said. “My team has been through quite a lot of hard times together but we’re always here for each other. We love to go hard in practice to push everyone. My teammates are some of my best friends and I can always rely on them for a good time at minimum.”

As a student-athlete, the focus is always academics first. Silva has used Huntington Learning Center to increase his test scores before applying to schools at the next level.

“I take the ACT Prep course at Huntington,” Silva said. “I love the flexibility for hours at Huntington because they work really well with my schedule.”

At BAHS, Silva said the school supports its athletes in and out of the classroom.

“As a student-athlete at BAHS we have many great opportunities for career pathways and also opportunities to give back to the community. I also really appreciate our resources available at BAHS,” said Silva. “My favorite teacher is Mr. Thompson. He teaches the leadership program at BAHS, and he has always been a great mentor and I look up to him a lot.”

Silva said his father is a big source of inspiration, always pushing him to be his best. That support has led to Silva experiencing great moments like a memorable trip to the first state, Delaware.
 “My favorite memory while playing lacrosse was winning the NXT Blue Hen Tournament in Delaware in an overtime game,” Silva said.
 Silva plans to attend college and continue playing lacrosse at the next level.
 “I plan to study Pre-Chiropractic at Lewis University in Chicago, while also furthering my lacrosse career. I’m not set on a state to practice in, but Oklahoma has always been home.”
