Broken Arrow High School wrestling team member Annabel Chase has competed in wrestling since the seventh grade. Now a junior in high school, Chase said she loves the sport and loves the pressure of being one-on-one on the mat.
“What I love most about wrestling is that everything I do in my matches is up to me and it’s a self-reflection of my work. What I love most about my team and teammates is how much we are about each other as people and not just as wrestlers,” said Chase.
This season the goal is to make it back to the Big House and compete for a spot on the podium.
“This season my goal is to return to state and make it on the podium this time. Being a BA athlete to me means that I get to represent an amazing school and that it’s an honor because I have to be doing all the right things outside of my sport to be out there on the mat,” said Chase.
A member of National Honor Society, Chase said she is making plans for life after high school.
“After I graduate, I plan to go to college and become a nutritionist,” said Chase. “My favorite subject in school is history and my favorite teacher is Mrs. Christiansen.”
Chase said her coaches have played a big role in helping her become the person she is today.
“The biggest influence in my life would probably be all my coaches in general. I’ve had many and to me I find it amazing how much time they spend on us whenever we aren’t even their own kids and I’m just thankful,” said Chase.
