Broken Arrow’s Lily Blaylock – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Patriot Auto Tulsa

For Broken Arrow High School junior Lily Blaylock, softball is more than a sport. It is a daily commitment to improvement, competition and the teammates who share the work beside her.

A varsity fastpitch player for the Lady Tigers, Blaylock has set specific goals for herself this season. She wants to sharpen the defensive details behind the plate while making each opportunity at bat meaningful.

“My goal is to continue to grow on my pop-time and hold runners from advancing. At the plate, I want to make every at-bat count and do whatever I can to help my team win.”

That team-first approach has been shaped by the coaches who have invested in Blaylock throughout her career. She credits Coach Tommy, Coach Beth, Coach King and Coach Childers for challenging her in ways that have extended beyond softball skills.

“Coach Tommy, Coach Beth, Coach King, and Coach Childers have all made a big impact on me. They’ve each pushed me in different ways that has helped me grow, not only as a player but also as a teammate and leader. I’m thankful for every coach who has taken the time to invest in me.”

Blaylock understands that joining a varsity program can feel overwhelming for younger athletes. Her advice is rooted in confidence, preparation and resilience after mistakes.

“Don’t be scared of the moment. Trust the work you’ve put in, listen to your coaches, and don’t let mistakes get in your head. Varsity can be intimidating at first but believe in yourself and keep working.”

Softball remains Blaylock’s primary involvement at Broken Arrow, but the relationships created through the program are among the parts she values most. The Lady Tigers have made a point to spend time together away from the field, strengthening the connection that carries into competition.

“Softball is my life, BA has become a team this season we have on and off campus taken the time to bond, go to breakfast, hangout and become one team on and off the field which I feel it’s what helped us get this far. I enjoy the coaches and teammates this year we just laugh and have a good time.”

Her message to fellow students reflects the same supportive culture she appreciates within the program: “Support each other and be proud Everyone is going through something, so a little encouragement can go a long way.”

Blaylock is also grateful for her family’s steady presence through every high and low of her softball journey.
