Broken Arrow High School senior Brock McKnight has built a wrestling career around hard work, memorable performances and the relationships that have helped shape him along the way.

For McKnight, two moments stand above the rest: “Making the state finals last year or winning regionals my sophomore year are my most memorable moments.”

Those accomplishments reflect the commitment required to compete at the varsity level, but McKnight also values the personal growth that has come through the sport.

“Wrestling has taught me to work hard and has made me a tougher person,” said McKnight.

That toughness is supported by the people in McKnight’s corner. He points first to his parents, whose example has remained a major source of motivation throughout his career.

“My parents inspire me because they have sacrificed so much for me and are great role models.”

McKnight also credits a former practice partner, teammate Matthew Mann, with pushing him to improve. Wrestling often depends on the daily work completed in the practice room, and McKnight recognizes the impact Mann had on his development.

“Teammate Matthew Mann left the biggest impression on me because he was my practice partner and he made me a lot better.”

Away from the mat, McKnight remembers the influence of a teacher who made a lasting impression during his junior year.

“My math teacher Mr. Wilkerson last year because he’s the goat.”

Despite wrestling’s physical and demanding nature, McKnight maintains a grounded approach to competition. He sees the sport as an opportunity to enjoy the experience while continuing to improve.

“Wrestling is just a sport that I do for fun it’s never that serious.”

As his senior season continues, McKnight remains appreciative of the coaches, teammates, teachers and family members who have supported him. He offered special gratitude to an earlier coach who played an important role in his journey.

“Thank you to everyone who helped me throughout my career especially coach Dubuque back in Texas.”
