Broken Arrow freshman Jane Eller is already making a name for herself as one of the area’s most promising young distance runners, combining elite performances with a mindset built on discipline and perseverance.
Eller, who will attend Broken Arrow High School this fall, competes in both track and cross country. Despite her age, she has already posted standout results on big stages. In cross country, she points to her dominant win at the 2025 Chili Pepper Festival middle school two-mile race as a defining moment. Eller crossed the finish line in 11 minutes, 11 seconds, winning by a remarkable 46 seconds. “That race showed me what I’m capable of when I trust my training,” Eller said.
Her success has carried into track season as well. Eller captured a national title in the 800-meter run at the New Balance Indoor Nationals, finishing in 2:12, a time that places her among the top young runners in the country.
While her achievements are impressive, Eller credits the sport itself for shaping her character. “It has taught me grit and determination, because it’s a hard sport where you learn to push yourself to the limit,” she said.
Eller also emphasizes the importance of consistency, a lesson reinforced by advice she continues to rely on. “The best advice I’ve been given is to trust my training,” she said. “There will be ups and downs, but consistency matters.”
As she prepares to compete at the high school level, Eller draws inspiration from those around her. She cites teammate Addi McIntyre as someone who has made a lasting impact.
“She has shown me how important it is to never give up and stay consistent,” Eller said.
Beyond athletics, Eller stays active in her school and community. She is a member of student council and the National Junior Honor Society and is involved in her church. She also values the strong sense of community in her hometown of Broken Arrow. “It feels very safe and has a great community that I can plug into,” she said. “Everyone is nice.”
Eller remains grounded, expressing gratitude for those who have supported her journey. She specifically thanked Coach Barber of Jenks America Track Club. “He has always encouraged me to love myself just how I am,” she said.
With a national title already on her résumé and a strong support system behind her, Eller enters her freshman year with both confidence and humility. As she continues to develop, her combination of talent, work ethic and perspective suggests her success is only beginning.
