Jake Miller won his second state title after transferring from a much smaller school. His first title came as a freshman and winning his second was a special moment for the senior.
“My favorite moment was winning my second high school state title and first for Broken Arrow my junior year,” Miller said.
Miller recently signed his letter of intent to wrestle for Iowa State University. Miller continues to work on his skills and is ready to make the most of this final season at BAHS.
“The strength of my wrestling is being able to wear the other guy down and get them tired, while I still feel good. So I guess my shape would be the strength of my wrestling. I am working on finding some attacks from space to add to my offense,” said Miller. “I am kinda looking forward to everything this season since it’s my last season of high school and I am wrestling 150/157 this year, just depends on the tournament and what the teams needs that week.”
Broken Arrow is now home and Miller loves being with his teammates.
“I love how close together we are as a team. It’s like a family. Matthew Mann is probably the most vocal. He is a great leader and someone who works very hard every single day. A lot of guys on the team are funny in their own way, but Rudy Rojas would probably be the one that gets everyone to laugh the most,” Miller said.
In the classroom, Miller puts the same focus on his studies.
“My favorite subject is probably science. I find it very interesting, and my favorite teacher is probably Mr. Wilkerson, who I had this year for Algebra 3,” Miller said.
Away from the mat you can usually find Miller competing in other activities.
“When it is nice and warm out, I like to go play golf a lot and if the weather isn’t as nice, I like to play college football on my Xbox,” Miller said.
As for a source of information, Miller finds it in his father.
“My dad inspires me, because no matter what he puts one foot in front of the other every single day and continues to push forward through life,” Miller said.
