Broken Arrow Tigers Football Team Preview – Presented by Josh Moore- Shelter Insurance

BROKEN ARROW TIGERS

Coach: TRAVIS HILL

4-7

OFFENSE

A new day has dawned over Broken Arrow High School. A renewed sense of hope has hit the Tiger football program thanks to the arrival of new head coach Travis Hill. Hill takes over a proud program that’s hungry to find its identity and keep it. A tough schedule early in the season will help prepare this team for games late in the season with serious playoff implications. Six starters are back on offense for the Tigers including a big offensive line that features JJ Breshears (6-4, 307, Sr.), Kaden Moody (6-6, 295, Sr.), and Tristan Silva (6-5, 290, Sr.). Possibly the biggest offensive line in the history of Oklahoma high school football, this group will look to dominate the trenches and give their ball carriers an opportunity for success. Several QBs are competing for playing time including Jeramiah Ssettimba (6-0, 170, Sr.), Kason Delgado (6-1, 185, Jr.) and Javen Crowley (6-3, 165, So.). Ssettimba threw for 2,404 yards and 23 TDs last season. One of the go-to targets in the passing game is Tayshawn Jones-Wade (6-2, 190, Sr.). Jones-Wade made 51 receptions last season for 801 yards and 8 TDs. Also look for Jenks transfer Semaj Stanford (6-2, 190, Jr.). Stanford was a key player for Jenks and will likely start both ways alongside Jones-Wade. Stanford could be the most highly recruited player in the state. The run game will feature Octavian Robertson (6-1, 190, Jr.) who rushed for 1,102 yards with nine TDs. Robertson is a durable back with excellent speed. Corey Sango (5-9, 180, So.) is an exciting, young running back who could see time on offense this season.

DEFENSE

A few positions are up for grabs coming into the season, but one spot on lock down is at defensive end with Jon Broehl II (6-3, 235, Sr.). Also a tight end, Broehl made 23 tackles and two sacks last year. Nate Jackson (6-2, 230, Sr.) is another player with a secured job on defense. Jackson will start at linebacker giving the defense another physical player who loves punishing running backs and chasing QBs. Jackson can play tight end as well. Stanford and Jones-Wade immediately make the secondary one of the best in the state. Add Gaston Ferrell (6-0, 160, Sr.) and Bryson “BB” Brown (6-0, 183, Jr.) and you have a group ready to take on the best WRs and QBs in the class. Brown is considered by many to be the No.1 corner in the state and has 23 Division I offers on the table. Semaj Jones (5-11, 170, So.) is another defensive back looking to gain experience and get in the action. Jones is a two-way player and will see time at WR on offense. Reid Watkins (6-3, 250, So.) is a young, but talented defensive tackle looking to make a name for himself this season. Watkins is tough to handle on the inside. Titan Hix (6-3, 230, Sr.) is another transfer looking to make an immediate impact on both sides of the ball for the Tigers. Another transfer is Noah Gillespie (5-11, 170, Jr.) from Union who will likely start in the secondary for the Tigers.
