Broken Arrow’s Nyjah Noyes

One of the greatest memories a high school athlete in Oklahoma can have is competing in the state basketball tournament. Nyjah Noyes, a senior at Broken Arrow is no different. The journey to state is one he will always cherish.

As a shooting guard for his basketball team, Nyjah has learned discipline, how to work as a team and he became a leader for others to look up to.

“My favorite part about being on a basketball team is having a great bond with the guys I grew up with and having the opportunity to play with them, and of course winning,” he says.

Nyjah remembers being a little kid when he started playing basketball. 

“I first started playing in second grade. Basketball just runs in the family so that’s how it started,” he said. 

Nyjah dedicated himself to basketball, working hard to earn his position. Being able to represent BAHS as a student-athlete is something he is proud to do. Nyjah did not get to this point alone. He is thankful for all the support he receives from everyone around him.

“I would like to say thank you to all the parents and coaches who made me the person I am today and helped me learn the game of basketball. A big shoutout to my parents. They have helped the most all these years. My dad inspires me because he’s always been pushing and teaching me how to be the best man and version of myself that I can be,” said Nyjah.

The teammate to leave the biggest impression on him is Justice. 

“He was 100 percent with everything and was a leader,” says Nyjah. 

The professional athlete he looks up to is NBA player Steph Curry. Nyjah grew up admiring Curry who was always his favorite player and is still his favorite player to this day.

“He’s funny and a cool guy to be around,” said Nyjah.

Success on the court aside, Nyjah says the most important thing is to “cherish every moment with your loved ones.”
