The Broken Arrow boy’s soccer team made a statement against a tough field in the Class 6A soccer tournament held at the University of Tulsa.
The Tigers won their opening match, 1-0, over Northwest Classen and that would become a theme all the way to the finals. After dispatching NW Classen, the Tigers set their sights on Edmond Memorial who they defeated, 1-0. In the semifinals the Tigers would face a familiar foe in the Owasso Rams. The Rams defeated Union and Bishop McGuinness to make the semifinal contest with Broken Arrow. When the dust settled the Tigers were on top, you guessed it, 1-0.
That set up a finals match with the defending champs in the Jenks Trojans. The Tigers were more than game, but in the end, Jenks would go 3-1 on penalty kicks to win their second state title in a row, 1-0. The runner-up finish for the Tigers marks a 17-2 season under head coach Jordan Schmoker. The Tigers had previously defeated the Trojans in March, 1-0.
For the entire season the Tigers only allowed 13 goals, five of those coming in an overtime game early in the season.
Rib Crib would like to congratulate the Broken Arrow Tigers on a great season!
