Broken Arrow Volleyball
A lifer at Broken Arrow, Avery Jones is now a senior, but she has grown up wearing the black and gold while attending school and competing for the Tigers.
“I have attended BA and worn the Tigers logo since I was four years old. It definitely brings a sense of pride to wear the BA uniform while playing the sports I love. BA is a great place to be a student-athlete because you always have a group of students and adults supporting you no matter what,” said Jones.
Volleyball isn’t the only sport Jones plays. The senior is a member of the tennis team as well.
“Along with volleyball I also play tennis for Broken Arrow High School. I have played varsity one doubles for three years and love it,” said Jones.
As a member of the volleyball team, Jones said the relationships she has built while playing on the team is something she loves about her volleyball family.
“Playing volleyball at BA has brought me so many relationships that I will cherish forever. Some of us have played together since we were in elementary school. I love this group of girls because we have meshed so well together. One thing about us is we do not have any one specific girl that the ball always goes to, but we utilize everybody and have a well- rounded front row,” said Jones.
In the classroom, Jones said she has a favorite subject, but narrowing down her favorite teacher is tough.
“My favorite subject in school is math and my favorite teacher would be my junior year calculus teacher, Ms. Taylor,” said Jones.
Jones is a member of National Honor Society, FCCLA, COLABASH, Senior Athletic Leadership Council, and is a captain on the tennis team.
Jones said this season her favorite moment was the Booker T. Washington match that went 5-sets with BA winning, 20-18.
Jones said she would like to study engineering in college.
“I would like to study engineering. Currently leaning towards chemical engineering branch,” said Jones.
