The Tigers finished the 2022 season 5-7, but added a playoff win against Norman, 47-20.
The 5-7 record was their first record below .500 since 2006. Regardless, the Tigers are
focused and ready to take on another tough Class 6AI schedule.
Non-district games include Bentonville, AR., Union, and Owasso. But there are three games
on the schedule that will determine where the Tigers land in the playoff picture.
3-The third biggest game is Norman North on September 29th at home. The Timberwolves
feature a solid offensive line with Harrison Utley leading the way. At 6-foot-4, 290-pounds,
he is a tough customer in the trenches. Norman North is ranked No. 5, one spot ahead of the Tigers at No. 6. The Timberwolves lost in the quarterfinals last year to Owasso, 41-34.
2-Second biggest game on the schedule is the October 13th home game against the
defending champion Bixby Spartans. Last season the Spartans put up 77-points against the Tigers. A game no one has forgotten. If the Tigers can keep it close or even win, that could be enough momentum to carry them into their biggest game of the year.
1-October 27th , the Tigers will host the Jenks Trojans. Unlike the Bixby game, Jenks needed some late heroics to win, 35-34. After the transfer of two players to Jenks in the offseason the Tigers have plenty of motivation to face the Trojans. If the Tigers can get past Norman North and Bixby, this game would likely be for the district title.
Head coach Josh Blankenship is no stranger to big games. The Tigers will be prepared and
ready come August 25 th when they kick things off at home against Bentonville.
