BROKEN ARROW TIGERS
Coach: RANDALL KING
OUTLOOK
Broken Arrow will have some key pieces returning from its Class 6A state runner-up team last season under head coach Randall King, although the Tigers will have to go in a different direction from the pitcher’s circle. “We lost some key players, but will have several returning, including the core of our infield and two outfielders. We will be inexperienced on the mound with limited varsity experience, but we have some young ladies that are ready to step up,” King said. Senior Maysie Childers, a VYPE Top 100 nominee, will anchor the outfield where she covers a lot of ground. Childers hit .327, drove in 18 runs and had 25 runs scored as a junior. Senior Aliya Scarborough will play both corner positions in the infield and hit .380, while knocking in 35 runs last year. “Aliya is good on the corners and is a force at the plate,” King said. Juniors Emily Evans (shortstop) and Taylor Clay (second base) will form the middle of the infield. Evans batted .372, scored 32 runs and finished with 32 RBIs in 2022, while Clay, who will also see action as a catcher, hit .395, scored 35 runs and drove in 20 runs. “Emily is a very good shortstop and is a force at the top of our lineup,” King said. “Taylor has been at the top of our order the last two years and has played a huge part in our success.” Senior Jordyn Davis returns as the starting catcher after batting .318 with 24 RBIs as a junior. “Jordyn is a solid catcher along with being a leader on our team,” King said. “She does not get a lot of recognition, but was a big part of our success last year and we expect her to be this year also.” Senior Jaden Hendren will contribute from the pitcher’s circle. “This will be Jaden’s first year on the varsity and she has always been willing to do what we ask of her,” King said. “She is a very good student and will be a part of our pitching staff this year.” Others who will be factors for Broken Arrow this season are junior outfielder/pitcher Hannah Jones, senior outfielder Josie Henson, sophomore outfielder Emily Gilleland, senior outfielder Addison Arnold, and junior pitcher Cali Lieurance. Lieurance posted a 4-1 record with a 3.35 ERA last year.
