BROKEN ARROW TIGERS
Coach: JOSH BLANKENSHIP
5-7
OFFENSE
The 2023 edition of the Broken Arrow Tigers will be a young one. Head coach Josh Blankenship and staff are working to bring several younger student-athletes into the starting lineup this season, putting the pressure on the coaching staff to get them ready for varsity action. “The 2023 team will be a very young, talented group. If they progress and develop, it should be a dangerous team come playoff time,” said Blankenship. One player the offense will lean on this season is Derrick Osmond (6-6, 235, Sr.) who could be a tremendous difference maker at tight end. Osmond will likely be on the receiving end of Cooper Bates (Sr.) at quarterback who may make a permanent move from wide receiver to quarterback. Kayleb Barnett (Jr.) has good speed at wide receiver giving the Tigers someone who can stretch the field. The offensive line may be a little young, but Ricardo Fernandez (6-1, 260, Jr.) could be the leader to anchor this unit. Look for the Tigers offense to run multiple sets and play to their tempo.
DEFENSE
The defense will have a new look this season with some fresh faces dotting the lineup. At linebacker the Tigers will feature Lane Condry (6-4, 215, Sr.) who could be one of the top linebackers in the class. Condry has the size to play at the next level. Osmond will bounce to the defensive side of the ball and play his natural position of defensive end. His strength and length will give opposing tackles all sorts of problems. Donavin Hardaway (Sr.) is the leader of the secondary from his free safety position. Making it tough on QBs is what Hardaway brings to the table. The coaching staff consists of Justin Pruitt, Britt Maughan, John Graham, Nick Gorman, McKinley Whitfield, Mitch Allen, Ivan King, Dave Heath, Bo Farrow, Daniel Hendrickson, Tracy Moore, Vince Davis, Mark Broyles, Ross Moore, Robert Thomas, and Adam Lucero.
