The Lady Tigers of Broken Arrow under the leadership of head coach Ian Bullen, made it to
the state tournament last season and come into the new season with new goals and new
faces in some key positions.
“Our BA varsity is coming off of a successful season in which we were 24-11. We were
Regional Champions and made it to the 1st round of the Class 6A State Tournament,” said
coach Bullen. “This year we will be replacing some key and experienced players who
graduated with a handful of young and very talented girls. Many of our new varsity players
were on our very strong JV squad last year which finished the season with a 32-1 record.
With four or five returning starters in the mix along with these new faces our team should
be solid again this year.”
One player making her return to the court is senior Hailee Alexander. Her impact this
season will be significant if the Lady Tigers are going to make another run at state.
“Hailee Alexander is a senior who will be in her third year as a varsity starter. She is our
starting setter and is a very solid player. Hallie sees the court really well and makes good
decisions on where to set the ball. She is a strong leader and lifts her team up when she is
on the court. She was a 1st Team Frontier Valley Conference Setter last year as well as an
Academic All-Conference selection. We expect big things from her during her senior
season,” said coach Cullen.
Avery Jones also enters her third year of varsity play and is the starting Libero.
“Avery reads hitters extremely well and is quick to the ball. Our team is better when she is
on the court making strong defensive plays. She was a 2nd Team Frontier Valley
Conference Libero last year as well as an Academic All-Conference selection. Looking
forward to her leading our defense again this season,” said coach Cullen.
Other players to watch this season include Allison Buenzow, Grace Marshall, Lauren Harms,
and Ainsley Hopkins to name a few.
